Tiffany Avery-Shokes is an award-winning two-dimensional artist and self-published children’s book author born in Cook County, Chicago IL. From a very young age Avery-Shokes has been creating fantastical illustrations on paper and has always been fascinated by art. Previously she spent 10 years making money as a massage therapist in Los Angeles CA, then decided to carry out her passion and invest her time to her art. In 2016 she wrote and hand illustrated her first children’s book Barbra & Benny Love-bot Save Robotopia, and is a self-published indie author.

In 2018 a painting she made won a citywide competition in Los Angeles that is on permanent display at the iconic art deco building, Southwestern Law School. Her portraits have gained reasonable recognition, and one of which was featured in 2018 on Late Night with Stephan Colbert. Avery-Shokes has also involved her talents with Bernie Sanders 2020 Presidential Campaign, where she drew a portrait of Bernie, titled ‘The Young Revolutionary’ that gained substantial attention from Bernie Supporters, and the original piece sold immediately to a private collector. She created prints and posters and donated over 100 to raise money at Bernie’s headquarters in Los Angeles, on Wilshire Blvd. and Fairfax. Then during the 2020 global pandemic shutdown, her art was featured in the Art Edit in House & Garden U.K three months in a row. The following year 2021 Avery-Shokes got distinguished international exposure with being invited to have her art at the 2021 Florence Biennale in Florence Italy, themed The Eternal Feminine.

Tiffany’s artistic process involves bringing to life the way she perceives her universe; she is motivated by humanity as well as the magic of our natural world. At times she conceptualizes femininity around unseen strength and unconventional beauty and draws inspiration from ancient mythologies with Gods and Goddesses. Her work reflects her life and how it relates to her perception at the time. Most recently, since giving birth to her daughter she has been building her artistic narrative around family and what motherhood means to her, and has been very inspired to reflect her inner world in that regard.

Tiffany is currently based out of Naperville, IL and lives with her husband, daughter and her cat Ruby. She enjoys spending quality time with her daughter, going on nature hikes, road trips, reading, learning new skills and is getting acclimated with creating digital art, exploring antique shops, sipping tea and finding great places to dine out or explore and is always up for a new adventure.
